10 held as police seize 11 guns

Police held eight Venezuelans and two locals during an Operation Horizon exercise that also saw them seize 11 illegal firearms.

Between 10am and 4pm on Sunday, a joint team intercepted a Kia panel van in the vicinity of Chatham South Trace, Point Fortin.

The van was driven by a 29-year-old, who was accompanied by a 23-year-old.

In the back of the vehicle they found nine Venezuelans, including a 4-year-old child.

They also found:

  • A revolver with ammunition in the front of the vehicle
  • A bag containing eight revolvers, two pistols and assorted ammunition
  • A transparent plastic bag with  cocaine
  • 28 bottles of Venezuelan alcohol

The TTPS says the persons were arrested, while the child was handed over to a relative.
