Ten Las Lomas residents were charged yesterday for offences under the Electricity Commissions Act after illegal electricity connections were found at several homes in the area. An exercise conducted between the hours of 5 am and 9 am led officers to Harrynath Trace off Chin Chin Road, Las Lomas No. 1. While there, they observed several homes illuminated with electricity.
However, their connections were illegal and posed a hazard. Approximately thirty homes were checked, and all illegal connections were disconnected. Ten persons were arrested and taken to the Chaguanas Police Station.
They were subsequently charged for offences under the Electricity Commissions Act. The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Simon, Supts Montrichard and Gyan, and ASP Dipchand.
It was headed by Sgt Modeste and included personnel of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) under the supervision of W/E Sgt Ali-Jacob and officers attached to the Central Division Task Force – Area North
