$1.7 million worth of cannabis was seized by police during a routine traffic exercise in Chaguanas.
Around 4:15pm yesterday while patrolling the southbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway, officers stopped a Volkswagen Passat to check the vehicle’s compliance with tint regulations.
According to the TTPS, the behaviour of the driver and passengers raised officers’ suspicion, prompting a search of the vehicle.
They reportedly found 20 packets of compressed cannabis weighing a total of 11.76 kilograms and valued at approximately $1,760,060.
The suspects were arrested and are currently assisting police with ongoing inquiries.
