Monitoring continues at the Piparo mud volcano, which remains cordoned off, according to Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation Chairman Ryan Rampersad.

Responding to 103.1FM News today, he said there has not been any more activity than normal, with some dissipation noted.

Last week, the volcano began showing an increased level of activity with gas and mud releases, however, over the weekend, there was a marked reduction.

Mr Rampersad added that officials are continuing to monitor the situation and are on alert.
