Patriotic Front Leader Mickela Panday says the UNC failed to axe the Property Tax, calling the promise an “election gimmick.”

In a statement on Facebook, she says the UNC promised to axe the tax in the People’s Partnership election campaign in 2010 but failed to do so for their five years in government.

Now, she adds, the party is signing the same “election song”, vowing to get rid of the property tax, if elected.

The PNM, she notes, has been unable to get their house in order 14 years after passing the law to collect the tax.

Also, Ms Panday believes says all regional corporations must tell the population what they intend to do with the tax money.
