Video detection systems installed at major highway intersections

Video Detection Systems have been installed on traffic lights at seven major intersections along the nation’s Highways.

Spearheaded by the Works and Transport Ministry’s Traffic Management Branch, the system will prioritize green time for waiting vehicles, resulting in the efficient movement of traffic along the major intersections.

In other words, motorists will no longer have to wait at the traffic signal, while other movements are on green with no vehicles in those lanes.

Video Detection Systems have been installed at the following intersections:

  • Churchill Roosevelt Highway/St. Augustine (UWI)
  • Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Pasea (Tunapuna)
  • Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Macoya
  • Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Orange Grove Road
  • Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Trincity
  • Churchill Roosevelt Highway/Golden Grove Road
  • Diego Martin Highway/Four Roads
