A local recording artist appeared before the North High Court yesterday for charges under the Anti-Gang Act.
Joseph Ollivierre, also known as Medz Boss, was charged with being a gang member and professing to being a gang member.
He was granted $40,000 bail by Master Margaret Sookraj-Goswami.
The charges follow an investigation by the Special Investigations Unit Gang Enforcement Team, focusing primarily on videos posted on social media platforms promoting gang violence and gang culture.
Police Commissioner Erla Christopher says the case underscores an “unwavering commitment” to address and combat the promotion of gang-related activities, particularly through influential figures in the entertainment industry.
