MP: Give citizens full disclosure on PM’s medical status

An MP believes citizens must have full disclosure on the Prime Minister’s medical status if he intends to vie for re-election at the next General Elections.

The Prime Minister recently revealed that he will be going for medical assessments closer to the end of April 2024.

Naparima MP Rodney Charles, who will bow out of active politics at the next polls, says people must know whether at 77 years old, the PM will be able to handle the stresses of the job.

Mr Charles believes the public knows more about the medical status of England’s King Charles, compared to Dr Rowley.

He adds that the schedule for leaders in today’s world is demanding with “early morning talk shows, walkathons, endless interviews, late night meetings (and) weekend press conferences.”

Mr Charles says there must be mandatory succession planning at leadership levels and believes Dr Rowley can start the process.
