Vouchers will be distributed to fisherfolk, vendors and others whose livelihoods have been affected by the oil spill in Tobago.
During a post-executive council media briefing yesterday, THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine says this will help with groceries.
The vouchers will be distributed starting tomorrow, March 1st.
Mr Farley adds that this is a precursor to other relief efforts.
Also speaking was TEMA Director Allan Stewart, who says containment and cleanup efforts are continuing.
Meanwhile, there is concern over the impact of the oil which has reportedly reached the island of Bonaire.
According to BBC News, officials say the oil poses a “serious threat to both humans and nature”, with mangroves, fish and coral ecosystems at risk.
Bonaire, a special municipality of the Netherlands, said its east coast has been polluted by the slick.
