A next of kin issue behind a protest by maxi taxi drivers actively has the attention of the Works Ministry.
This is according to a statement by the Ministry after drivers gathered outside its office at the corner of Richmond and London Streets in Port of Spain yesterday.
The drivers are asking for a proper next of kin policy to be implemented, to allow authorisations given to a maxi taxi driver to be passed on to the next relative/kin, in the event of sickness or death.
This, they say will allow the maxi taxi to continue operating via the next of kin.
The Ministry says the matter is before it and it has committed to continuous dialogue for an amicable outcome.
