Man killed near primary school in Belmont

No students or staff were injured following a drive-by shooting near a primary school in Belmont that left one man dead.

Police say around 9:10am, 50-year-old Amoa Howe was walking along Gloster Lodge Road, when a silver-grey vehicle pulled alongside him.

Loud explosions were heard, the vehicle sped off, and the victim seen lying motionless on the road with gunshot wounds.

Police say all 194 students and 13 staff members of the Gloster Lodge Moravian Primary School were accounted for with no injuries or damages to the school property.

They believe the murder may be gang related.
