Grenada is on the alert for oil drifting from the wreck lodged in the waters off Tobago.
Large amounts of an oil-like substance has impacted beaches in Tobago, with more drifting out into open ocean.
Grenada’s National Disaster Management Agency says it has evoked the tenets of its oil spill hazard specific protocol, with a meeting also held to discuss the necessary preparations should a response be needed.
It has also contacted the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency and other local and regional partners as a precautionary measure.
