Australia recovered from 54/5 to declare on 289/9 in the first innings to claw back into the second Test against West Indies.
West Indies made 311 all out in their first innings with 79 from Joshua Da Silva, 71 from Kavem Hodge and 50 from debutant Kevin Sinclair.
Then, good work from Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph cleaned up five Aussie wickets before Usman Khawaja (79) and Alex Carey (65) put on 96 for the 6th wicket.
Roach and Joseph ended with figures of 3/47 and 4/84 respectively.
In the lower order, Pat Cummins made 64 not out from 73 balls before Australia declared to take a crack at the West Indies batting under lights.
And the plan seemed to work when Tagenarine Chanderpaul was caught behind off Josh Hazlewood to leave West Indies at 13/1 at stumps, leading by 35 runs.
West Indies trail in the two-match series 1-0.
