Sport and Community Development Minister Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis has joined the tributes for cultural stalwart Arthur William Lewis, who passed away recently.
Mr Lewis was a director, playwright and community activist.
Mrs Cudjoe-Lewis said his unparalleled commitment to advancing the arts and improving the community will endure for future generations as a lasting legacy.
She also reminded that his contributions extended far beyond the stage, as he was also a dedicated theatre practitioner, teacher, community activist, and youth worker, whose impact spanned from Cedros to Manzanilla, Chaguanas to Tobago, Vance River to Mayaro.
Minister Cudjoe-Lewis added, “Arthur’s life was a testament to the power of the arts to transform communities and to bring people together. His work was a reflection of his love for Trinidad and Tobago and his belief in the potential of every individual to contribute to our nation’s story. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate his extraordinary life and the countless lives he has positively impacted.”
