Hazardous Seas Alert to come into effect

A yellow-level Hazardous Seas Alert will come into effect from 6pm today.

According to the Met Service, seas along the northern and eastern coasts are expected to deteriorate to rough conditions with an increased risk of strong rip currents, posing a serious hazard to swimmers and beachgoers.

It adds that agitated seas are likely to be particularly perilous for offshore activities, including fishing.

The alert is set to run until 4pm on Friday (January 26th, 2024).
