Scores in T&T commemorate inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya

Scores of persons in T&T were at the Pierre Road Recreation Ground yesterday to participate in global celebrations to mark the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, India.

The event was organized by the Shri Ram Janam Bhumi Sthapna Committee, under the patronage of the High Commissioner of India in TT Dr Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit.

It included a procession, devotional singing, and cultural performances.

During his feature address, Dr Singh Rajpurohit thanked those organizing and attending the event.

He adds that the Temple was not just a physical building, but also “a beacon of hope and a symbol of unity”.

The global celebration was dubbed ‘Divali in January’, as it marked the return of Ram to Ayodhya.

In India, the inauguration was attended by thousands.

According to BBC News, only the ground floor of the temple was opened – the rest of the structure is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

It stands on the site of a demolished 16th-Century Mosque that was itself built on the ruins of a Ram Temple.

In 2019, India’s Supreme Court gave the disputed land to Hindus, while a plot outside the city was granted for the construction of a mosque.
