Lionel Messi has won the Player of the Year award at the FIFA Best Awards.
The Argentina and Inter Miami forward retained the award last night by beating Manchester City striker Erling Haaland in a tie-break.
After receiving the same number of points (48) from a scoring system based on votes from national team captains, coaches, journalists and fans, Messi was crowned winner due to more first-choice nominations.
France’s Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe finished third.
Aitana Bonmati, meanwhile, won the women’s award.
