A serial fruit thief was convicted for the 12th time after being caught on cultivated lands, stealing produce.
Last Monday, the Praedial Larceny Squad arrested Siew Persad Ramdass at Blanchisseuse Road, Arima following weeks of complaints by residents.
Some of the stolen fruits were recovered.
He will spend nine months in jail with hard labour, after pleading guilty in court to the two offences.
Separately, the Praedial Larceny Squad arrested a vendor who was selling portugals along the Eastern Main Road in Sangre Grande.
The 59-year-old man of Matura failed to tell the police exactly how he obtained the fruits.
He was granted 20 thousand dollars bail by the court.
