One family will stay in a shelter tonight, following the emergence of mud volcano vents last night in Cascadoux Village, Mayaro.

103.1FM News understands three families were evacuated, however two have since returned to their homes.

Chairman of the Mayaro/Rio Claro Regional Corporation Raymond Cozier says activity at the site continues, but has subsided somewhat from last night.

He says an eye will continue to be kept on the situation, with a scientific assessment now scheduled for tomorrow.

Today, officials from the Disaster Management Unit, Municipal Police and Mayaro Fire Service.
