The Phoenix Park Industrial Estate has been officially opened.

The Phoenix Park Industrial Estate has been officially opened.

At an event this morning, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said as part of the commitment by Beijing Construction Engineering Group to design and build the Park, there is an agreement to bring at least 10 investors to help drive productive capacity and raise its international profile.

Dr Rowley believes this will not only create new jobs, but new foreign direct investment which will bring new ideas, new business models and new products and services.

Today’s opening however was picketed by a group of employees who claim they are yet to be paid after working on construction of the venue.

The workers say they are owed wages since they were employed by subcontractors who have not yet been paid.
