The Opposition Leader believes T&T may experience another year with a high murder toll, following a bloody start to 2024.

For this, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar has criticized the Government, which she says is yet to take operational action or issue any comment.

She is calling for action to replace the National Security Minister and the Police Commissioner, who she believes have failed to address the situation.

Mrs Persad-Bissessar also renewed calls for stand your ground laws, access to legal firearms, and for Government to work with the business community to end extortions and robberies.

She says the UNC remains committed to meaningful discussions with the Government, headed by the Prime Minister.

She also urged citizens to participate in the party’s Anti-Crime Town-hall meetings, which are due to start in St Joseph next Monday.
