The UN’s humanitarian chief says Gaza a place of “death and despair” for Palestinians as Israeli attacks continue.
Martin Griffiths also warns that Gaza has become uninhabitable, with its people witnessing daily threats to their very existence “while the world watches on”.
He also called on the international community to use its influence to help those involved in the conflict to protect civilians, meet their essential needs and release all hostages immediately.
Mr Griffith ended by saying “This war should never have started. But it’s long past time for it to end.”
According to Al Jazeera, at least 22,600 people have been killed and 57,910 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7th 2023.
The death toll from Hamas’ October 7th 2023 attack on Israel stands at 1,139.
Three months since the horrific 7 October attacks, Gaza has become a place of death and despair.
This war should never have started. But it’s long past time for it to end.
