HDC to work on relocation for residents after Maloney fire

Updated: Last night’s blaze at Maloney Gardens was caused by a gas tank which caught fire while the tenant was baking, according to the HDC.

The corporation issued an updated media release this morning, stating the findings of preliminary investigations.

Around 7:30pm, the HDC was made aware of the fire at Unit 4-1 West at Building 11.

The HDC has since offered shelter overnight to the affected family of three and will work to relocate them to an available apartment.

In addition, Arouca/Maloney MP Camille Robinson-Regis will offer clothing and other supplies to the family through her constituency office.

Meanwhile, the HDC will conduct checks of the apartment building to determine the extent of damage to adjacent units and those located directly under the affected apartment.
