The HDC has responded to concerns raised in a recent newspaper article about the Trestrail Lands housing development.
Specifically, the organization noted a Sunday Guardian piece which spoke about the delays in having the townhouse units handed over to potential tenants.
In October, the HDC clarified that it had not taken possession of the units from the contractor due to what it called defects.
Yesterday, it issued another statement to refute the newspaper’s claim that, while persons are unsure of when they would receive the units, mortgage agreements for most have been completed.
However, the HDC says in 2022 it wrote to potential tenants informing them of the delay the completion of the units and offered options, including rescinding agreements and reimbursing deposits.
It insists that at no point did the HDC think it wise to inconvenience applicants by keeping their funds or completing the mortgage process.
