Background noise measurements are continuing in the Gulf of Paria.

The primary objective is to address and resolve the persistent concerns raised by the public regarding the excessive noise generated by vessels operating near the shore.

The latest exercise will take place from 8pm today to 8am tomorrow (November 15th to 16th 2023).

Equipment will be used to measure amplified music at various distances from the sea.

Each testing session is not expected to exceed 45 minutes at any given location.

The initiative is being undertaken by the Works Ministry’s Maritime Services Division in collaboration with the T&T Coast Guard, the Environmental Management Authority and the management of the Pelican vessel.
