Police are investigating an incident which has left a Sangre Grande man hospitalized in critical condition.
Around 7:30pm yesterday, the 44-year-old was at his Foster Road home when he heard someone call out to him.
When he looked outside, he heard loud explosions and felt a burning sensation in his stomach.
He called police who took him for treatment.
Police say the victim was in custody in relation to the murder of Sangre Grande market vendor three weeks ago but was released pending an inquest.
Responding officers were PC Jody Ramkhelawan and WPC Alexander of the Sangre Grande CID under the supervision of Inspector Vekash Ramkissoon and Sergeant Nicholas Ramdeen, together with PC Naresh Nanhoo and a party of officers of the Sangre Grande Task Force.
CSI Officers PC Humphrey and WPC Portel Jones processed the scene.
