T&T cyclist Nicholas Paul had grabbed the country’s first gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games in Chile.

Paul beat Suriname’s Jair Tjon En Fa in the final of the men’s sprint winning races one and two of three.

Colombia’s Kevin Quintero, who Paul defeated in the semi-final, went on to grab bronze by beating Canada’s Nick Wammes, also by a margin of 2-0.

Paul’s gold was T&T’s second medal of the 2023 Games and follows his gold in the same event in the 2019 Games in Peru.

The men’s 3×3 basketballers grabbed bronze by beating Venezuela by 21 points to 20 on Monday.
