Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley agrees with the Opposition Leader’s comment regarding recent acts of vandalism at Hindu temples and sites.
In a statement, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar, said the acts should not be viewed as religious intolerance or an attack on the Hindu community.
During today’s Post Cabinet briefing, Dr Rowley said he too believes these may be due to reasons other than religion.
Following her comments, the Opposition Leader has been accused by the SDMS of downplaying the incidents.
The most recent acts of vandalism include the burning of a Ravan effigy at the Tarouba Grounds, and a stone throwing incident at the Pranavananda Ashram in Beaucarro.
Meanwhile on the broader issue of crime, Dr Rowley had a message for the Opposition as it relates to a meeting to discuss this issue.
