PriceSmart member calls for transparency and accountability

One PriceSmart member is calling for transparency and accountability after a problem with the refund owed to her following a banking issue.

The issue saw money deducted and refunded to accounts by different merchants, however in cases where the merchant was PriceSmart, the refund was less than the amount deducted.

Affected persons were assured that the difference would be refunded.

Among those impacted was Krystal George, an internal auditor, who told 103.1FM News that she received 45 cents in her account this week, when she is actually owed $2.23.

Another affected customer reported a refund of 14 cents, which is short of the $9.63 owed.

Ms George says emails to PriceSmart have gone unanswered, with no direct communication from the company apologizing for the issue or giving details as to what is being done to remedy the situation.

She has also communicated with her bank (Scotiabank) on the matter, but says she still has concerns about measures and controls to protect customers.

103.1FM News has reached out to PriceSmart and the Bankers Association regarding the issues raised and are awaiting a response.
