65 year old Basil Carlos ‘BC’ Pires, a longtime newspaper columnist, has died.

Newsday reported that the Guyanese-born Pires had been battling cancer since 2022.

He was raised in T&T and worked in journalism, with his latest being two weekly columns in the Newsday.

He leaves behind his wife, Carla Castagne, and his children, Rosie and Ben.
