Skeletal remains were found in Sangre Grande yesterday.
According to police, officers made the discovery approximately 800 metres into a forested area off Marigold Extension around 2:35pm yesterday.
District Medical Officer Dr Sasha Mohammed visited the scene and reportedly concluded that the remains were too small to immediately confirm that they were human.
As such, the remains were removed to the Forensic Sciences Centre for testing.
Among those visiting the scene were Inspector Vekash Ramkissoon, Sergeant Nicholas Ramdeen, Woman Corporal Ayanna Rique and PC Marlon Samuel.
