A weather system east of T&T and the Windward Islands is expected to turn into a tropical depression during the next day or so.

This is the latest update from the National Hurricane Centre which says showers and thunderstorms associated with the system continue to show signs of organization.

It notes that interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of this system, and watches may be required for some of the islands later today.

Formation chance over both 48 hours and seven days is at 80%.

The latest statement from the local Met Service was issued yesterday, in which it assured of another update by noon today.

At this time, there are no watches, warnings or alerts in effect for T&T.
