One man has been killed and another wounded after police intercepted suspected car thieves in San Juan.

The TTPS says a 58-year-old man was robbed of his grey Nissan Wingroad around 6:30pm yesterday in Bon Air by two assailants.

Police intercepted the vehicle about an hour later at the Croisee in San Juan where the suspects reportedly opened fire on the officers.

The officers responded with a return of fire – one suspect succumbed to his injuries at hospital while another, 18 years old, received treatment.

Police also reportedly recovered a firearm at the scene.
