The West Indies Group of University Teachers will stage another demonstration this week as it continues to call for a better salary offer.
For months there has been no progress in talks between WIGUT and the University of the West Indies.
Last Friday, members marched at the St Augustine Campus, calling for an offer better than the 2% that was rejected earlier.
Today, 103.1FM News spoke with WIGUT President Dr. Indira Rampersad who pointed out that negotiations have already been drawn out for several months.
She adds that while they will continue to follow protocol and negotiate with the University, the Education Minister needs to do her part and help move the talks along.
Also commenting on WIGUT’s recent demonstration is UNC MP Anita Haynes-Alleyne, who says the situation demands immediate attention.
In a statement, she called on the government to engage in constructive dialogue with all stakeholders to find a “mutually acceptable resolution.”
