Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley travels to Canada today to take part in the Canada-CARICOM Summit.
The summit runs from October 17th to 19th and will be chaired by CARICOM Chairman Roosevelt Skerrit and Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
CARICOM says the Summit will highlight Canada’s strong ties with the Caribbean and provide an opportunity for leaders to continue to strengthen cooperation and chart a better future.
It is expected to provide a platform to advance shared priorities, including building inclusive and sustainable economies, increasing trade and investment, and promoting multilateral collaboration.
The leaders are also expected to discuss the fight against climate change and address its impacts in the Caribbean, including by exploring ways to improve access to financing.
During Dr Rowley’s absence, Finance Minister Colm Imbert will act as PM.
