WASA says the Point Lisas Desalination Plant is expected to be shut down for maintenance works from October 16th to 24th, 2023.

More will be known when it hosts a joint media conference with DESALCOTT, the operator of the plant, on Monday.

Usually, the plant provides 40 million gallons of water for use to the Pt. Lisas industrial community as well as to supplement the supply to customers in Central and South Trinidad.

And when a shutdown occurs, these customers usually face a shortfall of water as supplies are then redistributed from other areas in the north.

Temporary supply schedules are usually implemented during these shutdowns, with a less then regular supply usually the case.
