Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is calling on Dr Keith Rowley to assume the portfolio of national security.

During a media conference this afternoon, she said current Minister Fitzgerald Hinds has proven to be incompetent, and she is hoping that Dr Rowley can do a better job in the position.

She also believes the government should have spoken more about crime-fighting measures in the budget debate, especially after yesterday’s attempted assassination of the Deputy Prisons Commissioner.

The Opposition Leader claimed as well that the Prime Minister has not responded to her letter on crime-fighting proposals.
