Later this month, Government will begin installing CCTV cameras on a daily basis.
This revelation came from National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds, as he contributed to the budget debate in the Parliament.
He said the cameras will help police in the fight against crime.
Mr Hinds also revealed that that a Returnees’ Bill is being drafted, to allow for stranded nationals to be returned from conflict zones.
Other measures unveiled by the Minister include: procuring more drones to assist with border security and upgrading the Coast Guard’s 12 Damen vessels.
Mr Hinds’ contribution however was criticized by Naparima MP Rodney Charles.
Speaking after the Minister, Mr Charles zeroed in on the 12 Coast Guard vessels.
Mr Charles added that the government has not provided the fire service with sufficient resources, such as vehicles and breathing apparatus.
