A security officer was shot and killed at his Chaguanas workplace last night.

According to a report by Guardian Media, 61-year-old Shami Soogrim was on duty at Massy Stores in Brentwood when he was shot by a gunman.

The incident occurred around 9pm.

Soogrim reportedly died at the scene.
