Two persons were held as police seized $1.3 million worth of marijuana following a high speed chase in the Western Division this morning.

Officers were on patrol in Chaguaramas around 1:10am when they observed a white pirogue docked close to the shoreline, as well as a white X-Trail vehicle parked a short distance away.

On seeing the officers, the vehicle drove off, leading to a chase that ended along Abbe Poujade Road.

In the vehicle were two crocus bags containing 48.94 kilograms of marijuana.

Two suspects, ages 41 and 30 from St. Augustine, were arrested in connection with the find.
