Opposition MP Dr Roodal Moonilal is calling for legislative changes to address the issue of extortion.

This call follows allegations by business owners that they are being forced to pay a “security fee” to criminals.

During a media conference this afternoon, Dr Moonilal lamented that the current penalty under the Larceny Act is not enough.

Dr Moonilal is urging the business community to speak out and also suggests the implementation of a TTPS Anti Extortion Unit.
