Following the shooting deaths of four young people in the Heights of Guanapo, the Education Minister says support is being given to their friends and teachers.
The killings took place around 12:30am today and claimed the lives of a 10-year-old, two 17-year-olds and a 19-year-old.
In a statement on Facebook, Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said such incidents shows that T&T is producing citizens who see nothing wrong with committing heinous acts.
She believes this is where cultural transformation through education is critical and notes that this topic is part of the ongoing national conversations on education, EdUTalk.
Dr Gadsby-Dolly noted that a decision has been taken, based on 2020 and 2021 consultations, to broaden the curriculum to focus on developing character.
She said the attitude and behaviour of citizens are just as critical as the qualification gained through the education system.
