State Game Licences available from Sept 18th, 2023

With the impending opening of the hunting season on October 1st, 2023, the Agriculture Ministry will begin sale of State Game Licenses on Monday 18th September.

In a media release, the Ministry says the licence costs TT$100 and enables hunters to hunt the game species specified on their respective licence on State Lands and Forest Reserves.

The Ministry notes that all hunting and possession of Iguana are prohibited during the months of January, February and March with a TT$10,000 fine attached.

Hunting of iguana is also not permitted with in the municipal boundary of the city of Port of Spain.

Following the closure of the hunting season on February 29th, 2024, persons will have until March 31st, 2024 to dispose of game animal carcasses, with the exception of iguanas which must be disposed of by midnight on December 31st, 2023.

Holders of State Game Licences must correctly complete and submit the Mandatory Data Return Forms on or before May 31st, 2024 or face a fine of TT$5,000.00) per data form.
