His Excellency Dennis Francis has taken the Oath of Office to serve as President of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Mr Francis will serve in this capacity until the end of the 78th session in September 2024.

Following the Oath of Office this morning, he presided over his first Plenary Meeting as President in the afternoon.

He opened and addressed the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, held a minute of silent prayer/meditation, and appointed the members of the Credentials Committee.

President Francis is T&T’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York.

He was elected as President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly by acclamation on June 1st 2023.
