A Tropical Depression could form later this week in the Central Tropical Atlantic.

The National Hurricane Centre says there continue to be signs of organization in association with a tropical wave located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

It adds that environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for further development, with this system expected to become a tropical depression around midweek.

Additional strengthening is also likely while the system moves to the west and north-west.
