Shipment of electrical cables on the way to repair Cabo Star

A shipment of electrical cables is expected to arrive in the country next week as repairs continue on the Cabo Star following a fire on board the vessel on August 23rd 2023.

The Port Authority says the cables had to be sourced externally, since they were not available locally.

The Authority also says it cannot confirm a return date for the vessel.

In the interim, the Galleons Passage will be used for cargo shipments – from Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th September, it will leave Port of Spain at 10am and depart Scarborough at 5pm.

Meanwhile, the APT James and Buccoo Reef will accommodate trucks up to 7,000kgs, based on the availability of space, with priority given to foodstuff and other perishables.
