Doodnath Mayrhoo has been sworn in as Siparia’s first mayor.
Mr Mayrhoo, the councillor for Avocat/San Francique North, took his oath during a ceremony attended by Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar this afternoon.
Cedros councillor Shankar Teelucksingh will serve as Deputy Mayor.
Meanwhile, Akeliah Glasgow-Warner was this morning sworn in as the first mayor of Diego Martin, with Valeisha Sookdar as Deputy Mayor.
Siparia and Diego Martin were both elevated to Borough status earlier this year.
Today as well, Faaiq Mohammed was sworn in for another term as Mayor of Chaguanas.
Councillor for Montrose, Melissa Jadoonanan, will serve as Deputy Mayor.
Meanwhile, Clyde James was installed as the new Mayor of Point Fortin.
Mr James was sworn-in as an alderman, with councillor for Egypt Village, Kwesi Thomas, to serve as his deputy.
Additionally, councillor for Manzanilla/Fishing Pond, Kenwyn Phillip was sworn in as the new Chairman of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation.
Sangre Grande Northwest councillor, Nassar Hosein, was named Vice-Chairman.
