An MP hosted a book drive in a bid to help parents who face challenges in sending their children to school.
Last Friday, St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen and other representatives gave out school bags, stationery and books at the UNC’s Tunapuna Regional Office.
MP Ameen noted that some parents encounter difficulties with getting their children transport, meals and books.
She also lamented that there have been failures by government in education, specifically raising concerns about teacher attendance, infrastructure, drugs, bullying and violence in schools.
The MP said these are issues that must be addressed urgently.
