Musical icon, Denyse Plummer, has passed away.
She was 69 years old.
A report by Guardian Media says her death was confirmed by a close family member.
This was later confirmed in a post on her Facebook page.
Plummer had been battling cancer in recent months.
Just last month, her family was forced to issue a statement dismissing reports of her death following the publication of a newspaper article.
Initially a pop singer, Plummer switched to Calypso in the 1980s, though her welcome was far from warm.
She eventually proved herself a more than capable calypsonian, winning several Calypso Queen and the 2001 Calypso Monarch title in the process.
More recently, she began focusing on gospel music.
Plummer was awarded the Humming Bird Medal (Gold) in 2011.
