A 35-year-old man has been charged for murder and firearm-related offences following the suspected kidnapping and shooting that resulted in the death of Sangre Grande farmer, Stephan Juri on Monday 21st August, 2023 at Seecharan Road, Fishing Pond, Sangre Grande.
The accused, of Graham Street, Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande was charged for the offence yesterday, Friday 25th August, 2023, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Roger Gaspard, S.C. The charge was laid by Cpl (Ag.) Emmanuel of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Two. According to a police report, around 8:15 pm on Monday 21st August, 2023, officers responded to a report of loud explosions in the Fishing Pond, Sangre Grande area.
They also received a report of a suspected kidnapping involving a white Tiida vehicle. They proceeded to the area where they discovered the body of a male with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. A short while, later a white Tiida with one occupant was intercepted and a firearm along with the wallet of the deceased was allegedly found. The charged man is expected to appear at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court on Monday 28th August, 2023.
